Pairing Wine with Junk Food

It can be done!

Leo has a new wine sponsor who evidently pays him in vino. My computer was down so I had to go to Petaluma to do the new Munchcast. Leo said “Great! We can drink wine!”, which spurred this topic. What DO you drink with junk food?

It being Easter eve, I brought Peeps. And just about the only thing I know about wine pairing is that the wine must be sweeter than the food or else it tastes crappy. So to compliment the Peeps, we drank Sophia Blanc de Blanc, or champagne in a can.….

a delicious combination it turns out!

But to try anything more bold, we really needed an expert. Thankfully, Mike Pierce of Maverick, has made the idea of pairing wine and junkfood his mission. He actually holds junkfood pairing events at his restaurant. Check it out!

Junk food is never healthy same with bottomless drinking. It will ruin your health in the long run.

I never tried pairing wine with junk foods before, are you sure it is just fine? well I love pairing cheese with wine but I have to brush my teeth immediately after eating cheese

I always pair wine with nuts & snacks. But wine with junkfood sounds new & interesting. Will try it definately.

The absence of Munchcast is palpable and depressing. Take this small and belated commentary as encouragement for the return of Munchcast to the greater world that needs it now, more then ever.

I hope that worldly or family circumstances aren't holding back this thought provoking foodie endeavor. If so, let me wish you a speedy and positively happy ending of a recovery.

I heard Leo mention your latest podcast about meatballs several times during the latest Twit episode and stopped by to see what all the fuss was about... what a surprise I got!
